Lancaster, Calif. – Prestige Senior Living is pleased to announce that its assisted living and memory care community in Lancaster, California, recently earned an award for their comprehensive recycling and composting program from Waste Management.

Prestige Assisted Living at Lancaster was presented with the Sustainability All Star Award by Lancaster’s Waste Management during the most recent May 28 City Council meeting. The award is given to organizations that display exemplary recycling efforts and a commitment to sustainability in the city of Lancaster.

“We are so honored to be recognized for the extra effort we put into our recycling and composting program,” said Kortnie Spitznogle, executive director of Prestige Assisted Living at Lancaster. “When Waste Management informed us about this program, we knew it was something that we had to implement because it speaks to our commitment to the community and environment around us.”

As part of the recycling and composting program, Prestige Assisted Living at Lancaster trains their staff to organize and maintain a separation between paper and organic waste, while educating their residents on the importance of recycling and the impact that proper composting can have on the local environment.

The assisted living community is only one of three Lancaster businesses that implemented both a recycling and composting program, and the only assisted living community to do so.

Prestige Assisted Living at Lancaster is centrally located just an hour outside of Los Angeles in the city of Lancaster and offers a high-quality and well-rounded assisted living experience. The community also offers Prestige’s award-winning Expressions Memory Care Program, which provides a stimulating outlet for creativity geared toward individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
