Our History
Great things often start from small beginnings; Prestige Care is no exception.
Although the company was founded in 1985, our origins begin four decades prior with the legacy of Sarah Delamarter, a pioneer in Oregon’s long-term care industry. In 1946, Sarah began caring for seniors in her home, using her nursing skills to support her family. Her warmth, compassion, and dedication quickly earned the trust of those around her, and demand for her care grew rapidly.
Sarah’s unwavering commitment to serving seniors became a family legacy — one that continues to shape everything we do at Prestige today.
Respect
Every person is a unique individual made in the image of our Creator, and inherently deserving of our respect. We base our care on a foundation of respect for our residents and their families and for ourselves and individuals.
Integrity
We believe in doing the right thing, always acting in the best interest of our residents.
Commitment
We believe it is our privilege and honor to provide senior services and an obligation that we take very seriously.
Trust
It is our pledge that we will care for your loved ones as if they were our own.
Sarah's Story
Prestige Care’s journey began in 1946, in a home at the top of a long, spiral staircase in Troutdale, Oregon. There, Sarah Delamarter opened her doors to seniors in need of care, using her nursing expertise to support her family. Her compassionate, person-centered approach quickly earned a stellar reputation in the community, laying the foundation for what would become a legacy in senior care.
Sarah’s commitment to dignity, respect, and exceptional care was passed down through generations. In 1985, her vision officially took shape with the founding of Prestige Care — a company built on the values she lived every day.
Today, Prestige Senior Living remains family-owned and operated, guided by Sarah’s enduring legacy. The next generation leads with the same dedication to quality care, strong values, and operational excellence. We are proud to serve residents across Oregon and Washington through our Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care communities — continuing to grow while staying true to the heart of our mission..
In 1985, Prestige Care was formed, and today, two of Sarah’s grandchildren, Harold and Dr. Rick Delamarter, along with their business partner Greg Vislocky, own the company.
While the company that started in Sarah’s home has grown considerably, her legacy of care has remained. Focusing on the needs of the residents and patients as the first priority, and knowing that every single staff member makes an impact on their lives, drives every decision the company makes.
The family connections continue into the next generation, as Harold Delamarter’s sons, Jason, who is Prestige’s Chief Operations Officer, and Ryan, the company’s Chief Legal Officer, lead the business today.
In its fifth decade of operation, Prestige Care, a company that began in Sarah Delamarter’s home, is an industry leader in senior care while still operating with the ideals that started it all.
