Like many healthcare professionals, Ashley King of our Prestige Care & Rehabilitation – Sunnyside skilled nursing care center in Sunnyside, Washington, wanted to find a home. She wanted to find a place where she could hone her skills, get exposure to many areas of nursing, and ultimately make a difference in someone’s life, all while seeing the fruits of her caring.
Ashley has found all of that and more with the Prestige Care Family, where she has served in a variety of roles at multiple care centers since 2005. Since coming on board, she has served in a variety of Registered Nurse roles, including her most recent role at Sunnyside as the MDS Coordinator, where she has been since 2014.
She has found her work very rewarding, when asked what the most rewarding part of her job is, King mentions that it’s “always the people. Either the residents or the people I work with. That makes the difference. I love taking care of the elderly residents and seeing how they progress, get better, and go home.”
Like many nurses, she has held a variety of titles throughout her career, in a variety of industries. She started out as an ICU nurse, transitioned to do emergency room nursing, over to Med/Surg, all before making the jump where her heart led. “I was simply tired of the 'being on call constantly' piece and seeing the patients leave constantly. I wanted to see the patients transition back to help and wanted to take care of them longer,” says King. She has been able to find that long term impact here with Prestige Care in her Resident Care Manager and MDS Coordinator roles.
