Prestige Supports The Walk To End Alzheimer's

Posted by Prestige Care

At Prestige Senior Living, we are major proponents of getting out and moving. Activity and healthy habits are ingrained in both our Celebrations wellness program for our assisted living residents, and our Expressions wellness program for our memory care residents.

Sometimes, that activity extends outside our communities. At various times throughout the year, you’ll find Prestige employees, residents and their families donning purple shirts to represent the company at their local Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Throughout the Western United States, our Prestige communities generate vital funds to help the Alzheimer’s Association in their fight against the disease when they get out and join their local events.

Even in year two of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prestige teams continue to show up in full force, with a mission statement guiding them in this unprecedented time: “Let's take the next step and go the extra mile”.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a cause near and dear to the heart of Prestige’s founding partner and CEO, Harold Delamarter: “Prestige has a long history of supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s as part of our ongoing dedication to those who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease,” he says. “We are so proud of all of you who volunteer your time and help organize fundraising events to support the Alzheimer's Association’s efforts to find a cure for the disease. On behalf of Team Prestige, I want to thank you for supporting our cause once again and helping improve the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer's and their families.”

Of course, the pandemic has forced so many changes across a wide spectrum of activities in our lives, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is no different. It’s not always feasible during these times for our residents to get out into a crowd to walk, so at least one community, Prestige Senior Living Bridgewood in Vancouver, WA, held their own local version at the community on August 4 of this year.

It was a gorgeous day for a walk as residents dressed in purple and made the rounds throughout the property, raising awareness and funds any way they could even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

The efforts by our Bridgewood team show the dedication to the cause across the Prestige family. Since 2010, Prestige Care centers and communities have raised nearly $500,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association in support of its mission to advance research and enhance care and support for all those affected by the disease. Using a variety of creative fundraising tactics, donors at every level of our organization have helped Prestige become one of the Alzheimer’s Associations top national fundraising teams, with annual contributions exceeding $50,000.

Our fundraising efforts along with many around the country help the Alzheimer's Association provide resources for education, caregiver support and most importantly, funds for research to find a cure for this devastating disease.

If you’re able to support Prestige in this wonderful cause, you can find a community’s fundraising page via the list right here, or donate through Prestige’s Central Support team.

If you have a loved one with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia, you may be considering senior living. At Prestige, our award-winning wellness program Expressions uses innovative care techniques and life enrichment programming to provide people with dementia and their families an environment in which the individual can live a productive and active life and be treated with dignity and respect.
