Albany skilled nursing center to receive Leading Participant Award
Vancouver, Wash. – Prestige Care, Inc., a leader in senior living and skilled nursing care, is pleased to announce that Timberview Care Center in Albany, Ore., has been honored with the Leading Participant Award from the Oregon Patient Safety Commission (OPSC) for its dedication to continuously improving patient safety, making a lasting impact in Oregon’s health care community and being an active member of the state-wide safety reporting structure.
Each year, the OPSC celebrates national patient safety awareness week by honoring Oregon’s leaders in patient safety. The leading participant award celebrates the progress that healthcare professionals and organizations have made in patient safety, and draws attention to the remaining challenges. Timberview Care Center exceeded the safety reporting program's 2013 recognition targets and was the top performer among Oregon's skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.
“Patient safety is our number-one focus and we’re committed to doing everything possible to continuously improve our ability to provide safe, compassionate care. Reporting our data to organizations like the OPSC is an essential part of protecting patients and seniors across the state,” said Anne Haddock, administrator of Timberview Care Center. “We are humbled by this recognition, and we will strive to remain the top reporter in the years to come.”
The patient safety reporting program requires participating organizations to report adverse events that are used to strengthen state-wide protocols and improve health care services. An “adverse event” is any event that occurs during medical care and results, or could potentially result, in unintended harm to a patient. The OPSC developed a reporting system to streamline the reporting process and allow Oregon’s health care providers to easily share information and ultimately improve patient safety by reporting adverse events.
In addition to Timberview Care Center’s recognition, the OPSC also recognized the entire Prestige Care organization this year with the first-ever Special Recognition Award for overall participation in Oregon's patient safety reporting program. Prestige Care was the top performer among Oregon's skilled nursing care organizations.
The commission hosts an annual breakfast to recognize the leading participants in Oregon’s patient safety reporting program. Timberview Care Center and Prestige Care will be honored at the breakfast on Feb. 28, 2014.
