Center Places Among the Top 10 percent Nationwide, Earns Deficiency Free Survey
Grandview, Wash. - Prestige Care, an industry leader in skilled nursing and rehabilitation, is pleased to announce that Prestige Care & Rehabilitation in Grandview, Wash., recently completed a deficiency-free survey from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services.
A deficiency-free survey indicates that the community met all of the state’s safety and quality standards. Skilled nursing centers are evaluated by state officials following an extensive, unannounced survey, which is conducted on-site over several days. Inspectors judge a community’s performance on safety measures in 15 categories that cover quality of care, medication management, hygiene, food service and more.
According to the CMS’s 2012 Data Compendium, less than 10 percent of communities nation-wide earned a deficiency-free designation, placing Prestige Care & Rehabilitation – Grandview in the top 10 percent. The CMS estimates that most skilled nursing centers have at least six or seven deficiencies per survey.
“We are both proud and humbled by the recent accolades we’ve received here at Grandview,” said Harry Aubert, administrator at Prestige Care & Rehabilitation – Grandview. “With every patient we serve, we strive to provide the highest quality care possible by treating them as if they were our own family. We remain vigilant as ever in meeting that goal.”
Prestige Care & Rehabilitation – Grandview also recently received a five-star rating from the CMS for the center’s continued excellence in patient care. The rating is determined by a number of factors, including patient safety, past health inspection results, caregiver and staffing data and various other quality measures. Grandview met and exceeded quality and safety measures across 180 regulatory standards to receive the five-star rating.
Survey results and center ratings from the CMS allow consumers to compare the health and safety inspection results of varying communities or track the improvements a particular center has made over time.
By rating skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers across the country and then publishing the results, the CMS has encouraged greater transparency between care providers and the public.
The CMS provides full reports on the nursing and rehabilitation centers it rates on its website here.
In addition to Grandview’s favorable ratings from the CMS, the center recently received a Deficiency Free Life Safety survey from the state fire marshal. This survey measures accordance with federal safety standards and procedures, including monthly fire drills, emergency generator checks, fire door closures, sprinkler system inspections and emergency plans.
