Rebecca Mason Recognized by The Arizona ALFA for Her Work with Memory Care Residents

Green Valley, Ariz. – Prestige Care Inc., a leader in senior living, skilled nursing and memory care, is pleased to announce that Rebecca Mason, memory care director at Expressions Memory Care at Green Valley, earned the 2015 Shining Star Award from the Arizona Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) for her innovative approach to customer service and resident care.

Arizona ALFA honors six professionals in the assisted living industry each year who have demonstrated exceptional qualities in management, caregiving, nursing and volunteerism – among other categories. Mason is honored in the Innovations in Customer Service category, which highlights the creative efforts of industry professionals to enhance the staff and resident experience through an innovative program or service.

Mason orchestrates the community’s Expressions memory care program, an activity-rich residential program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia who seek community-based care to help alleviate the effects of the disease for residents and their families.

“Rebecca lives and breathes our Expressions memory care program,” said Melanie Matthews, vice president of operations at Prestige Care. “She gets to know each and every resident – their tastes, their passions, their joys – and develops truly individualized activities and experiences to make sure they receive the highest quality, most personalized care possible.  We are proud to have her in our family of compassionate, skilled leaders.”

The award recognizes Mason’s efforts to learn each resident’s life story to integrate individualized services, programs and activities into their daily routine. She proactively communicates with residents’ families to update them on their loved one’s progress, demonstrating her commitment to not only her residents, but everyone involved in their care.

According to Matthews, Mason’s compassion extends beyond the walls of her Prestige community. She also hosts a monthly support group for individuals in the larger Green Valley community who care for loved ones with memory loss, and teaches them the skills necessary to continue providing safe, quality care in the home.

Prestige Care’s award-winning Expressions memory care program is offered in 24 of the organization’s assisted living communities throughout the western United States.
