Prestige Senior Living has announced that three communities have installed a new air purification system to better protect residents, visitors and staff from the spread of COVID-19.
The system is in place at Prestige Post-Acute and Rehab Center – Kittitas, Prestige Senior Living Mira Loma and Assisted Living at Summerplace.
Installing this new air purification system, along with ongoing vaccination efforts, is one of many measures that Prestige Care is taking to provide a safe, clean environment for all patients, residents, staff and visitors.
The new state-of-the-art air purification system, known as the Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI™) system, works by injecting billions of invisible, charged ions into the building’s HVAC air stream. These ions attach themselves to harmful pathogens and particles like SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, to inactivate them before they can harm anyone. In fact, lab tests indicate that NPBI technology successfully inactivates 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 within 30 minutes of introduction to the virus. NPBI is also safe to breathe and certified ozone-free, unlike other outdated forms of ionization.
The ionization system works as part of the center’s HVAC filtration. The NPBI intercepts harmful pathogens by creating clusters which make the virus easier to capture when the particles pass back through the HVAC filtration system.
